Wonder Woman shielding the gunfire in “No Man’s Land” scene becomes Variety’s #1 shot of 2017
Variety released a listicle for ‘The Top 10 Shots of 2017’, and without anybody’s surprise, the shot of Diana shielding the gunfire from No Man’s Land in Wonder Woman (2017) movie topped the list, becoming the Best Shot of the whole year combined.
To quote Variety’s Kristopher Tapley,
The import of a frame depicting a woman standing strong amid a torrent is pretty self-explanatory…
Aside from the reason it was the first scene of Diana becoming the Wonder Woman, this single shot had a lot riding on its back. The scene easily summarizes the whole idea of being a hero and being Wonder Woman with a single shot of Diana taking all the fire from the opposite side, thereby inspiring the fellow soldiers in the trench to move forward. Actress Gal Gadot, director Patty Jenkins, cinematographer Matthew Jensen, composer Rupert Gregson-Williams and the whole crew delivered their best efforts, thereby making it cinema’s one of iconic and powerful shots, and thereby making it to the #1 spot for the Best Shots of 2017.
It’s definitely a recognition worth noting for the whole crew of Wonder Woman, who put their heart and soul for making one of the incredible shots in cinema history.
Other movies that shared the list were Get Out, Stronger, Call Me By Your Name, Baby Driver, Blade Runner 2049, Battle of the Sexes, Dunkirk, A Fantastic Woman, and The Shape Of Water.
